The past 365 days have been anything but standard. 2020 has been a year of difficulty and adversity, and we are not sad to see this year end. Despite all the hardships 2020 did bring, there were some moments in 2020 that made it a little more bearable.

Opening of our Bel Air Marketing Center

The start of the year saw the opening of our new 52,000sqft Marketing Center in Bel Air, Maryland! This new facility comfortably houses our growing team with socially distant workspaces, breakrooms and all the tools needed to succeed! The new Marketing Center is also centrally located in Harford County, and is right next door to our corporate office.

“We were fortunate to find a space that not only fit our teams’ needs perfectly, but that’s also located right next to our headquarters to minimize the potential impact a relocation could have on our business and clients,” said Shana Koslowsky, Vice President of Marketing at American Design & Build and American Sentry Solar. “The new office will allow us to enhance operations and continue to grow and keep pace with our clients’ needs while creating a fun and professional environment for employees. We look forward to bringing even more value and exceptional customer service to those who put their trust in us.”

Owens Corning Excellence Awards

In a way, this past March has been reversed; it came in like a lamb, and out like a lion. The first week of March we were awarded the Service Excellence and Product Excellence Awards at the Owens Corning Platinum 2020 Conference in Marco Island, FL! While we were not in attendance at the conference we were humbled and honored to receive such awards from Owens Corning. We are proud to be an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Roofing Contractor and are grateful for these awards that recognize our team’s hard work and dedication to excellence!

Changes in Protocol – March 2020

The end of March marked the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, and thus the start of Maryland’s lockdown. Due to the roofing services we provide to the local community, we were deemed an essential business, and had to quickly enact new protocols to comply with the new CDC Guidelines. Our new safety protocols, such as wearing PPE, virtual estimates, and contactless installs helped keep our team and community safe while also providing the necessary services to the homeowners that trust us.

While the world seemed to come to a halt during the start of the pandemic, we knew that a homeowner’s leaking roof, drafty window or draughty door would not. That’s why we created new financing options to help homeowners get the work they needed done, without jeopardizing their budget during this uncertain time. We are most proud of our No Payments/No Interest for 2 Years option for anyone needing a roof replacement, ensuring that anyone in need could afford it, despite the hardships brought on by the pandemic.

Qualified Remodelers Top 500

On August 14th we were named one of Qualified Remodelers Top 500 Contractors! This year we ranked 79th nationally, and we could not have done this without our customers and community supporting us!

Storm Damage Restoration Team

In August we also founded our Storm Damage Restoration Team, a special division of American Design and Build created to help homeowners with storm damage and insurance claims. This team, led by Storm Restoration Coordinator Josh Price, are experts in all things storm damage and insurance claims, and they personally inspect roofs looking for anything that needs replacing. Since August they have already helped countless homeowners with their storm damage projects, and they look forward to helping even more in 2021!

Years of Service Awards

Towards the end of each year, we like to take a moment and thank our hardworking employees for all they have accomplished. These awards, titled the “Years of Service” awards, are awarded to employees who have reached their 3-, 5- and 10-year anniversaries with our company. Like many things in 2020, our award ceremony was moved to a virtual setting, but it did not make it any less touching! You can view our Years of Service Award Ceremony above!

Baltimore Sun’s Top Workplaces 2020

On November 30th we were announced one of the Baltimore Sun’s Top Workplaces for 2020! This was the third year in a row that we have received this recognition, and we look forward to continuing to offer our employees a safe, comfortable, and secure place to work in 2021!

Toys for Tots

At American Design and Build, our community means everything to us. We would not be here without your support, and this year has been especially difficult for everyone. While our solar division American Sentry Solar is giving back through its Small Business Recognition Program, we wanted to do something extra for the children in our community this holiday season. That is when we decided to support Harford County’s Toys for Tots initiative! From November 15th through December 15th, we donated money from every single estimate given into a Toys for Tots fund, and then filled our drop-boxes with toys for Harford County children in need! We sincerely hope that this gesture made someone’s Christmas morning a little more magical, and provided a happy memory at the end of this long year!

This past year has been one of difficulty and adversity, but it was also a year of adaptation and strength. It was a year of neighbors helping neighbors, sacrifices for the greater good, and overcoming obstacles together. And while the hardships may be far from over, we know that whatever may come, we can get through it together. Happy New Year to all, and best wishes in 2021!
